Dental Bridges
What Are Dental bridges ?
Dental bridges are used to fill in the space left by one or more lost teeth.
Typical features of a dental bridge include:
- Supporting teeth/abutment teeth: Two crowns are affixed to the teeth on either side of the space where a tooth is missing in a dental bridge. Your natural teeth or dental implants can serve as these anchoring, or supporting, teeth.
- Pontic: This is a prosthetic that affixes to the crowns to close the space.
Dental Bridge Types
- Here at ARKA Dental Care, we provide a range of dental bridge options, including:
- Bridges made of metal and ceramic.
- Bridges made with Direct Metal Laser Sintering (DMLS).
- Bridges made of zirconia
PROCEDURE FOR GETTING A DENTAL BRIDGE
- The surrounding teeth are prepped in order to seat the bridge, and a shade choice is chosen.
- Your mouth is scanned in 3D.
- On-site milling of your dental bridge.
- After fitting the dental bridge, your dentist inspects it and, if necessary, makes any little adjustments.
- Lastly, the dentist will firmly cement or set it in your mouth, where it will stay for a long time and resemble any of your original teeth.
Regarding Additional Dental Bridges
- Your dentist prepares the surrounding teeth and abutment teeth for the bridge’s placement during the initial appointment.
- A dental laboratory receives the imprints of the shaped teeth and uses them to build the bridge.
- The dental bridge will be fitted by the dentist during your second appointment, after which it will be returned to the laboratory for any required adjustments.
- The dental bridge will be permanently cemented or fixed by the dentist at the third and final appointment.
A DENTAL BRIDGE’S BENEFITS
- Dental bridges provide your mouth and smile a more natural appearance.
- Dental bridges help people talk again because they can help people pronounce words correctly when they are absent.
- By keeping bone from deteriorating in the area where teeth are absent, dental bridges preserve the natural contours of the face.
- Dental bridges improve one’s capacity for effective meal chewing.
- Your bite may suffer as a result of teeth moving into nearby areas where teeth are lacking. With the use of dental bridges, the space left by lost teeth is kept from being filled in by neighboring teeth.
