Open Bite
One form of malocclusion, or improper tooth alignment when the jaws are closed, is an open bite.
How should an open bite be treated?
An open bite can have a variety of negative implications, from broken teeth to aesthetic concerns:
- Visual appeal. Because their teeth seem to be poking out, people with open bites may not enjoy how their teeth seem.
- Dialogue. An open bite can cause problems with pronunciation and speech. For instance, lisping is common among those who have an open bite.
- Consuming food. You may be unable to properly bite and chew food if you have an open bite.
